The Light After The Darkness

A sunset with the sun setting in the distance.

Summer has officially arrived. The summer solstice just occurred and the weather outside is absolutely beautiful. Just the other day I had the honor of being a guest on a friend’s podcast and as many of you know, my anxiety used to be pretty bad. That day however I really proved to myself how far I’ve come. I was able to drive on the highway and not only go somewhere absolutely new to me, but also do something new in the same day.

We discussed many things on the podcast but one of the conversations we have before the podcast really stood out. In addition to going over all the topics and questions we were going to discuss on the podcast, we also talked about our personal experiences. One of the topics we touched on was how I got started on my journey on the Shamanic Path which then naturally branched off into healing work and growth. As we all know, growth is extremely hard, it’s uncomfortable and I never sugar coat it when talking to anyone seeking advice. The portion of conversation that stood out focused on the moment we are hurt and healing from trauma. In that moment everything feels dark. We feel scared and almost trapped because we don’t see a way out. In moments like these, butterfly teaches us that when things are dark, they are not dark forever. After coming out of the dark and standing in my power I can now look back and see that knowing about butterfly medicine really helped. I found solace in knowing that just because things were not fun at that moment, it was leading me in the right direction. Everything does happen for a reason. There are lessons that need to be learned and if we do not learn them and pass the test, they will circle back. Sometimes we feel like we take two steps forward and one step backward, but the truth is, if we take a step back and look at the whole picture, we tend to over focus on the dark moment. Taking that step back I can now see that I have actually taken many steps forward and only a few steps back. I have come so far in just a short time, and I’ve never been prouder. The sun is shining in my life, and I feel the blessings from the Creator and Mother Earth. The dark days of winter are behind me and its now time to grow under the loving sun.
